Paper Airplane Icebreaker (by Shelley Sink, Wake County Cohort)
Have students construct a paper airplane. Then have them write the following:
On the front of the plane on the pilot side write the name of your plane - put a
nickname you had as a child or have now (or a middle name).
On the co-pilot side, write who you would chose as your co-pilot.
In first class, write the name of a Hollywood actor or another celebrity who would play you in a movie about your
life.
In the baggage area, write two things you would never travel without.
On the left wing, write something risky you have done/or a risk you would like to
take in life.
On the right wing, write an unusual family tradition (now or from childhood).
Students thrown the paper airplanes a couple of times. After they have been thoroughly mixed throughout the room, they each choose one and try to find the owner.
Just as before, the front doors of Poe Hall will be unlocked at 9:30, but there will be an alarm that will sound if the door is opened for more than 20 seconds and Public Safety will be called automatically. Please do you best to make sure you close the door behind you after you come in. Announcements:
Within the next week, please take the TECHNOLOGY SURVEY. It will help Bethany Smith design the Technology Super Saturday in December. You will need your NC State log-in and password to access the survey.

Praxis Scores - Please email the PDF copy in addition to having your scores sent to NCSU
Absence from Super Saturday due to Praxis Exam - Please send me a copy of your admission ticket. It does not count toward your one allotted absence.
Unit Plan PDF - To create a PDF file, go to the "Print" option and "Select Printer." Choose "PDF Creator." You will be submitting your file as a PDF through the College of Education server. I will give you more detailed instructions regarding this in a future email.
Registration for Spring 2011 - November 18th is when registration opens for NDS students. You will be registering for ECI 475 and ECI 476. Choose section 601 if you are at Athens and choose section 602 if you are in Durham.

Marsha Bryant received her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and her Masters Degree in Administration from NC State. She was in the classroom for 16 years and has been working as a Behavior Specialist for the last 14 years. She has worked with Wake County Public Schools for the past 22 years. The hardest 3 years of her life were when she worked in a Day Treatment PEP (Positive Education Program) setting. She is a certified trained of Life Space Crisis Intervention and Non-violent Crisis Intervention. She loves working with teachers to help their classrooms run more smoothly!
